The question comes that who were the Beatles? Who were they and what was their relation with Rishikesh? Let us tell you that The Beatles were not a human being but a famous music band. Which was created in 1960 by John Lennon, born in Liverpool, England. Let us tell you that John Lennon wrote the first song of his life, Hello Little Girl. Which was on the lips of every person in Britain in 1963. After which, in the same year, The Beatles band got three more of its companions and John Lennon’s friends Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. This band got a different identity across the world with its excellent music. The Beatles band was a superhit for 10 years. However, according to media reports, by the year 1970, all four had separated from each other.

How did The Beatles come to Rishikesh?

After returning from India, by the time of 1970, this band had broken up and all the members had separated. But it is said that even after Lennon’s murder in 1980, all the members of the Beatles were associated with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and that is why this ashram was later named Beatles Ashram. A song from India became very famous in Lennon, in which Lennon said Jai Guru… Jai Guru… 

The last song of The Beatles

After leaving India, by 1970, the Beatles group had broken up. After which all the members were busy releasing different albums and were singing separately from each other. However, even during this time, the songs written by Lennon were being liked. In 1973, Beatles member Ringo Starr released an album for which John Lennon sang. This was the last time that all the members of the Beatles appeared together on an album. 

Lennon’s murder 

8 December On the night of 1980, when Lennon was returning to his New York home with his wife, he was shot at and killed. Let us tell you that Lennon was murdered by one of his fans, Mark David Chapman. According to reports, killer Mark David Chapman was saddened and angry over Lennon’s anti-Christ statements and some of his songs years ago. Due to which Chapman murdered Lennon. However, in some reports it is also said that the killer Chapman was not mentally stable. He was also sentenced to 20 years for the murder of Lennon.

After the Beatles came to Rishikesh, the whole world became famous for Rishikesh. Had got a different identity. Even today, after so many years, people from all over the world including Britain and America come to Rishikesh in search of peace. The impression of The Beatles is still present in Rishikesh. The Chaurasi Kutiya Ashram where the Beatles stayed is today known throughout the world as the Beatles Ashram. Every year thousands of foreign tourists come to see this ashram. Apart from this, there are many cafes and home stays named Beatles on the banks of Ganga in Rishikesh, where tourists like to go. In simple words, the impression of the Beatles who came to Rishikesh decades ago is still visible here. 

How did Rishikesh get its name?

According to mythology. According to this, Rishikesh has been the abode of sages since Satyayuga. Raibhya Rishi and Som Rishi had performed penance while meditating on Lord Vishnu in the ancient Shri Bharat temple located here. After which Lord Narayana was pleased with his penance and appeared before him. Hrishikesh is also a name of Lord Vishnu, due to which this place is known as Hrishikesh. But in common parlance people have started calling this place Rishikesh, that is why it is now known as Rishikesh.
